Praxis Wisconsin Project Overview

The aim of this project is to create learning objects to help adult learners “remember” subject matter content that they were once taught, but have now forgotten. The specific need for these learning objects is in the teacher quality provisions of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, which requires specialist teachers to be subject-matter certified in the areas they teach.

Uncertified special education teachers have to either pass a subject-matter exam or return to school for certification coursework. Remembering the content to pass subject-matter certification exams, such as the Praxis, has thus become a high priority need for school specialists and districts across the state. Our approach to learning object design focuses on the special purpose of these learning objects – to help experienced learners remember content they had once forgotten.
